Zine Idea

I think I want to do something more grunge-like or creepy for this project. My first thought was about a dog fight ring where people place bets and losses on these dogs. I want to use a background collage of a bunch of World War One photos/ Vietnam War photos so that they almost blend into the background if you aren’t looking closely enough. I also want to use grunge dog breeds like Dobermans and Pitbulls. I think I want something that slowly gets revealed at the back of the book the more you flip the pages and the larger the holes in the pages get. I also want to use photos of hands reaching toward the dogs or getting bitten. I think the overall message will be that we like to feed wars in the hope of winning but often, these wars get out of control and just end up hurting us in the end. I was also thinking of doing something about OCD and how often it is categorized under this idea of organizing or cleaning when it is more about intrusive thoughts and repetitive anxieties. Maybe something about repetitive washing, counting, and repeating it repeatedly. Perhaps I’ll make some interactive part about sorting or flipping through the pages to find clues you didn’t see before. I might want to incorporate something about Greek myths, like putting them very faintly on some pages or very small inside people’s eyes. I also really wanted to do something humorous; maybe I’ll incorporate some dry humor.
